We flew from Lakefront Airport in New Orleans to Poplarville, Mississippi this morning so Scott could log some cross country time. It was a beautiful day to fly, sunny and little wind.
The aircraft.
The pilot.
Takeoff...Mardis Gras floats crossing the Twinspan bridge by our apartment. They were travelling away from New Orleans, so we're not sure where they were going.
Cockpit management.
Our apartments...
Ours is a couple to the left from the dock.
An aerial view of Slidell.
Coming in to land at Poplarville.
In the pattern at Poplarville.
This is a picture of the Causeway, which is in the Guiness World Book of Records as the longest bridge. It stretches from the south shore of lake Pontchartrain, which is New Orleans, to the north shore which is the Mandeville/Covington area. It's about 24 miles long, and looked like a little white hair from the air, but it didn't come across very visible in the picture. At all.
Coming in to land at Lakefront, the runway stretches into Lake Pontchartrain.
Downtown New Orleans.
Final approach.

We were just saying the other day: "We used to have a pilot at our beck and call - boy, times have changed!" Looks like fun - and A LOT warmer than what we're dealing with!
What a wonderful day you must have had. It was sooooooo cold here Sunday, we stayed in all day. Great pictures.
