Fredericksburg Flight and Canyon Lake

Saturday morning we flew to Fredericksburg for breakfast at the Airport Diner and later in the day went for a walk at Canyon Lake with Bridget. The weather was perfect, although a little cool in the morning.

It's much greener since we've had so much rain lately, and it was a really clear morning. Beautiful day for it!

Most of these airplanes were parked overnight, their owners must have stayed at the Hangar Hotel, which is right next door to the diner.

It was such a nice day, we then drove to Canyon Lake with the beagle for a walk.

It was an absolutely gorgeous day and we were lucky to get to enjoy it!

Snake Charmer

At the BBQ at the resort in Scottsdale they had a few exotic animals lined up and Scott took full advantage. This is a 12 foot python.

Scott was in Scottsdale, AZ last week for a few days and got a few pictures of the landscape.

In other news, Bridget was sick last Friday night to the point that if we hadn't taken her to the emergency vet she would have died (that's not just Renee being dramatic, that is what the emergency vet said). We took her in at about 11pm Friday night and they hooked her up to an IV and kept her until 2pm the next day. She had been throwing up everything, including water so she was pretty dehydrated. She was also in a lot of pain and her stomach was as hard as a rock. We didn't realize how serious the situation was and thought we would be able to take her to the vet first thing Saturday morning but things got bad pretty fast Friday night and after finding out how serious throwing up water is, we took her in. They did all kinds of tests on her, most we had already had done before, did a couple x-rays, gave her a lot of medicine, but still weren't able to figure out what's wrong with her. After being on antibiotics the past week she's 100% again but her getting so sick is an untenable situation. She's on allergy-free food, a probiotic powder to aid with digestion, Pepcid, and now it looks like we may need try some sort of maintenance antibiotic since no one knows exactly what's wrong with her. We shall see...

Drought? What Drought?

A month and a half ago everything was brown and crispy it was so dry. Over the past month or so we've gotten quite a few heavy rains and everything is quite green again, like spring. Then early this morning we got another eight (!) inches of rain. McAlister Park is closed, and several roads were impassable. It doesn't appear any houses were damaged or anything because they seem to have a good system of ducting the water.

The flood gage in this picture goes up to five feet, when we tried to come by late this afternoon it was at 2 feet.

Valero Family Day 2009!

Saturday was Valero Family Day at Six Flags, and like last year we had a blast! We also got two free tickets to use sometime before the end of the year, so our plan is to go back in the next couple months toward the end of the day and ride the roller coasters at night!

Scott in NYC

Scott's in New Jersey for a couple weeks for a class, but is only about 20 miles away from New York City so he spent Labor Day seeing a few sights. Renee didn't go for the weekend because it didn't seem worth it for only one day...Scott had class both Saturday and Sunday and didn't get out until the evening. Maybe next time!

Nebraska Trip

This past weekend we went back to Nebraska for Scott's sister's wedding. It was an outdoor wedding and they had perfect weather for it!

Sunday night we went to a get-together with some of Renee's friends. It was great to see everyone who could make it and catch up!

Scott was unable to schedule his commercial check ride with the FAA examiner before he left because the examiner was on vacation for awhile, and now Scott is out of town for two weeks, but hopefully he will be able to schedule it in the next two weeks and get it when he gets back. His plan is to jump right into his multi engine rating after that, which shouldn't take too long but it always takes longer than it should with scheduling :-) That's the last rating and then it's just a matter of building time...We'll keep you posted!
